El riesgo cardiovascular residual (RCVR) representa el riesgo persistente de eventos ateroscleróticos a pesar de alcanzar los objetivos terapéuticos para los factores de riesgo clásicos, como la presión arterial, la glucemia y, crucialmente, el colesterol unido a lipoproteínas de baja densidad (cLDL). 1, 2
Se estima que aproximadamente el 70% de los pacientes tratados de manera óptima con estatinas continúan teniendo un riesgo sustancial de eventos cardiovasculares adversos mayores (MACE, por sus siglas en inglés).2
