A pesar de la eficacia de una variedad de terapias para la prevención secundaria de eventos cardiovasculares, las personas que han sufrido una enfermedad vascular cerebral (EVC) o un ataque isquémico transitorio (AIT) permanecen con un riesgo elevado de presentar nuevos eventos.1

La administración de estatinas forma una parte integral de la prevención secundaria en la EVC isquémica. Sin embargo, su rol en otros tipos de EVC como el cardioembólico o el lacunar no está del todo claro.2
