El RTR se realiza en pacientes con osteoartritis avanzada o terminal, al igual que en artritis reumatoide, con el objetivo de aliviar el dolor, incrementar la movilidad y mejorar la calidad de vida.2

Sin embargo, el dolor agudo posterior a estos procedimientos es común. El reemplazo total de rodilla se asocia a una alta prevalencia a dolor moderado o severo postoperatorio.1, 2
