La enfermedad vascular cerebral (EVC) es una de las principales causas de incapacidad a largo plazo, reduce la movilidad en más del 50 % de los sobrevivientes mayores de 65 años, y el riesgo de sufrirla se incrementa con la edad, aunque puede ocurrir en cualquier momento.1

Así mismo, el número anual de EVC y muertes debidas a ésta han incrementado sustancialmente desde 1990 hasta 2019, sobre todo en personas mayores de 70 años. Y desde el año 2013 ha incrementado entre la población hispana.1, 2
